Therapy

There are many types of imbalances a person can suffer from and many ways in which they can manifest. An imbalance may actually cause illness or pain. But many times, this is the body's last effort to make the imbalance known. When a person is more in touch with themselves... their mind, body, and spirit... it is easier to sense the imbalance when it first occurs. In ancient times, Chinese Medicine was used to keep the people from getting sick. All of these therapies work best when used as preventative medicine. The goal is to keep you centered and balanced. Once you are in touch with how that feels, you will know when you need some extra help to stay that way.

ACUPUNCTURE: Acupuncture uses very fine needles to stimulate points along the acupuncture meridians. These meridians are where the energy, or Qi, flows. Illnesses and dysfunction are due to blockages and imbalances in the flow of this Qi. From a Western biomedical perspective, stimulating the acupuncture points has an effect on the body's neurotransmitters and hormones, thereby allowing the body to repair itself and restore the body to its natural state. As the purpose of acupuncture is to balance the system, it can and should be used as a first line of defense.

SWEDISH MASSAGE: This is one of the most basic types of massage. It stimulates the circulatory system, helps to relieve muscle soreness, and relaxes the nervous system.

DEEP TISSUE/SPORTS MASSAGE: For muscle tension that is felt at a deeper level and/or has developed over a longer period of time. Perfect for preparing for an activity like trekking or for recovering after.

SHIATSU: Acupressure along the acupuncture meridians which opens up the blockages in the body. Helps to relieve muscle tension but even more to balance the body's energy. Stretching helps as well to relax the muscles and the nervous system and improve energy flow.

REIKI: Hands-on energy healing. The therapist acts as a conduit for the Universal Energy which will help balance your energy as well as giving it a boost as needed. Both relaxing and energizing, but you are likely to need time to absorb the energy and regroup afterwards.

CRANIAL SACRAL: By keying into the energy flows of the body and the rhythm of the cerebral spinal fluid, the therapist calls your body's attention to how it is functioning, helping it to rebalance itself and reset the nervous system. Helps to reestablish a connection to one's core energy.
